Blanco Venue is Getting Ready for Final Major Concrete Pour!
Although the weather has been a major impediment for construction, we still love the rain and hope there is much more to come. Having said that, it has slowed down a number of critical activities that have a had a ripple effect on the venue’s completion schedule and we are now looking at a June opening if we get some help from Mother Nature.
One of the more critical items is the elevators which can’t be ordered until the floor is in place. We have them picked out and designed but until the floors are ready, they won’t process the manufacturing order. The venue will have hardwood floors in the main indoor meeting spaces and slate tile on the rooftop and mezzanine. So you can understand why the concrete pour for the exterior floors is such a relief.
The photo here shows the rooftop metal covering called pan deck which will have the concrete placed on top of it once the drains and supporting mesh and rebar are added. Needless to say, we need dry weather before , during and just after the concrete pour is made.
In order to speed up the elevator order process, we’ll finish the floors around the elevators with the final materials to get the final measurements and get the elevator order processed…it takes 3 months to get delivery. Unfortunately, we’ll have to remove the finished floors abound the elevator after the measurements are confirmed as we’ll still have work to do and the finished floor there would get ruined anyway.
Also in the photo, you can see the elevator cage o the left as well as the bean on the right that will be the final height of the wall on the sides of the rooftop. Those masonry walls will also be green walls with ivy and a nice backdrop to the rooftop garden. In the background, you might also notice we also painted the building across the street white so our guests will have a nice view!
